What a fabulous house to spend New Years eve in, absolutely beautiful. It’s been a fantastic week here in St Ives. We all had our fancy dress costumes on for New Year’s Eve, How we got roland Rats head out the door we will never know, and my Cruella De Ville long fur coat had lots of admiring looks as we followed the samba band around town. The atmosphere was incredible, as we stood on the beach watching the fireworks, as the twelve o’clock struck. How lucky we are to have experienced a wonderful house and to be in St ives to bring in 2011. We can only say thank you to Pete and Carol for treating us to this incredible week.

Looking forward to spending more time here. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

We have had a lovely week here, and really enjoyed the well equipped house. We spent most days on the beach enjoying the (mostly) great weather or pottering around the shops and galleries of St Ives. We did go to Truro ( beautiful cathedral and lots of High Street shops ) and explored the western peninsulas as well. Unfortunately the day we chose to go to St Michaels Mount, Penzance, Land’s end, and to see a show at the Minnack theatre was the only wet day we’ve had, meaning that the play was cancelled, but it is still worth a visit. Lands end remains extraordinarily tacky, and the costal walk towards Zennor is long and strenuous, but extremely beautiful.

We have had a great holiday and the house was lovely, thank you!
We spent almost every day on Porthmeor beach but when it rained we went for drives. Our favourite meals were at St Andrews St Bistro ( telephone number 01736 797074) and The Mex. The beds were nice and comfy to come back to after a long day.
Praa sands was a lovely hidden away beach with a lush café/ restaurant! This is where I had the best hot chocolate and burger ever!

Great house, a real home from home! Super location to explore the area and visit some of our favourite beaches such as Porthcurno and Gunwalloe.St Ives is as beautiful as ever and people friendly and welcoming.

We've had a fantastic week and this lovely house has been a lovely place to stay. Really comfortable and spacious and the location is perfect. We've been lucky with the weather so have spent most of the week at the beach. A relaxed day at Carbis bay, two days at Porthminster where the children got to see "Soggy Bear" theatre and watching the surfers at Porthmeor. Spent a morning at the Tate where kids and adults can create a picture in the courtyard and hang it.
Fantastic ffod at the seafood cafe where you pick fish or meat from the counter then crust or sauce and side dishes. Had to book though as it was really popular. Lovely cream teas at Rhubarbs after a long walk and afternoon shopping. Favourite meal of the week has to be Pothgwidden Cafe. We had lunch there the day we arrived and luckily managed to book the window table for dinner later in the week. Fantastic food with stunning view. Would love to come back again!

Had a lovely week except for thursday when it rained all day. Did the walk to zennor on wednesday.
other people have commented you cant beat the food at The Sheaf of Wheat. Well worth a visit though it doesn't look much from the outside. The fillet steak in garlic cream and mushroom sauce was excellent. The Sloop in on the harbour is great for a drink but unless you like sloppy school dinner tpe meals I wouldn't go there. THe Union inn on Fore Streetis also good for food as is the Porthminster Cafe on Porthminster Beach. The Fire House Bar and Grill on Fore St is also good to drink but not so good for ffod as it is very measly with it's portions (with some menu items) Took a day trip bus ticket to Marazion ( quite nice but not much there) and also Penzance. (Bigger than expected and lacking in any charachter) Wouldn't bother with Lands End as it is £5 to park and has been turned into a tacky tourist trap

Had a great week staying here. Car parking space a bonus. Cottage in great location. Sunny all week. Beaches here are the best we have seen. Kids loved them all.Ate at the Sheaf of Wheat pub ( just down the lane ) 3 times. Food really good and great value, would recommend. Had a barbeque on decking one night.
Went to flambards, good day out for kids, but not sure what it would be like in summer months. Victorian village at flambards really great.
Paradise park, another great day out for the kids, get to feed the animals and birds, but mainly birds. Geevor Tin Min, spent the morning here, very interesting, but wear sensible shoes if going down the mine. You have to wear hard hats too! St Ives is a great location and a lovely place to stay. Would definately come back and stay here

Had a lovely week except for thursday when it rained all day. Did the coastal path walk to zennor on wednesday. See signs on Porthmeor beach. It was a very scenic walk but it did take about 4 hours, so if you're not a walker you'll probably struggle. It can be quite tough going ( very hilly) but there is a lovely tea shop with gorgeous cakes at the end of it, also you can get the bus back.

We're back!
This house is as beautiful as ever, with a nice location and beautiful views.
Everyone has had a good nights sleep and enjoys a yummy every-day-of-the-holiday roast lunch!
I hope we will be back again sometime soon!

Great property and lovely area for a winter holiday. Walks on quiet beaches very refreshing, especially with blustery winds and crashing waves!
Beautiful walk from St Ives to Lelant Saltings.
Barbara Hepworth sculpture garden is magnificent. Tate gallery worth entry fee just for the architecture.
Deli cafe (Chapel St) and The Food Room (The Digey) were top notch.
All in all a wonderful break!

Lovely roomy house – great position near to so much – Parking space a real bonus – beautiful / sympathetic renovation with period features kept but still plenty of mod cons. Really enjoyed our stay here.
Weather terrific (only 1 dull day) .
With notable exception people of St Ives we found to be really friendly.
Outside of St Ives (if you really need to get out of the town) try a day ranger ticket on St Ives Bay Railway (£4 adult) get off at (& go down to) Carbis Bay – Go on to Lelant Saltings – get off & go out through park and ride car park as you walk through new houses take Pintail Ave on right & follow footpath to main road / cross over/head (left) into Mill La / 100yds up on right is Watermill Pub (Mill wheel works) – good beer (great pub lunches / meals) .... garden seating – V friendly).
Afterwards back at Lelant Saltings Station sit on bench & watch wading birds on mudflats (Prob best done with binoculars).
Further afield Minack theatre site is a must (Particularly if you can take in a performance).

Picked a lovely week had only 1 day of rain. Thought accommodation was great.
Would definitely stay here again.
Aug 2009
Weather was half ok, parking handy so we could use car for trips out. Good eating places down the road, Sheaf of Wheat Pub, Rajpoot (Indian) and The Mex (Mexican) .. we did them all. Lots of room in the house, we should have brought more friends with us.
July 2009
We had a really lovely holiday, the cottage is really lovely and when we got inside we were amazed how big it seemed but very cosy with all the mod cons you need. We brought our grand children and they loved it especially the beautiful beaches and the playzone in Carbis Bay and Paradise Park in Hayle. We ate out most nights and had some lovely meals at The Sheaf of Wheat carvery and The Mex, they were our favourites.
“The sand is great and we loved playing on the rocks and fishing” (from the grand children)
We will all be back again
June 2009
Had a lovely holiday – house and weather great! Looking forward to visiting again with the bump (no longer a bump!)
Loved Porthminster beach – nice fish and chips, ice creams and smoothies..yum yum.
June 2009
House :- Great
Weather :- Good
Porthgwidden – still one of our favourite beaches in UK. We brought our kids to St Ives regularly and now we are re-tracing our steps with grand kids. Last year we holidayed in Italy, Spain and Cyprus none were any better than good old Cornwall.
As a paid up member of CAMRA I can endorse the fact that the availability of Real Ales in vastly improved.
June 2009
Lovely week despite some very dreary weather. Great house for kids:- lots of toys, buggy, etc. Enjoyed meals at Onshore, Ocean Grill, Coast and Porthminster Café – all very child friendly and lovely food. Food at Porthminster Café take away very tasty
and good value, Fab fish and chips at £5.95. Kids loved Portminster Beach and had a great day at Paradise Park despite outside appearances. Very handy having car right outside – we’ve definitely got fitter pushing a double buggy up the hill too!
Thank you
(oh yummy food at Fore St Deli)
April 2009
Loved staying in the house again! Nice location, near library J
This time with the car we could go to Lands End, Seal Sanctuary, Marazion, Michaels Mount and the Minack Theatre!!!
Again the lifeboat was our main priority for having a drink (if it wasn’t packed to the brim with people watching football) with nice drinks and a biscuit for my Dad’s breakfast.
October 2008
Had a brilliant extended weekend playing golf and sampling the local brew. Golf at West Cornwall (just 10 mins drive away) is an excellent links course with stunning views of St Ives and Carbis Bay. Their 'Open' proved to be great value and clubhouse and staff were very friendly. Next day we played Trevose, further north near Newquay. This was one of the best courses any of us had played with stunning views and excellent greens. After some fine golf we returned to St Ives and here is our pub report :-
Sazbah - great atmosphere and stays open later than most, full of strange furniture, how many pubs do you know that has a couple of beds and a table tennis table thrown in?
Sloop - oldest pub in St Ives, great character and if you get a nice day you cannot beat sitting outside this pub and watching the harbour activity.
Sheaf of wheat - closest pub to the house and probably the best value carvery and large portions off the menu. Most football matches shown in the bar.
Three Ferrets - locals pub, cheapest bar with pool table and live football,
The Lifeboat - overlooking the harbour and has live bands weekends
Queens, Union, The Castle and The Lion provide a varierty of venues to make up a decent pub crawl as preparation for the next days golf!!

A good time had by all. Thoroughly enjoyed the St Ives music festival. Good music and good atmosphere. Particularly liked the food in "The Union" on Fore Street. Had a good day out at the Eden Project, well worth a visit. Bear in mind... it's very humid in the biospheres, so dress accordingly. Can highly recommend St Ives. Found the house to be very well located and very comfortable for all 6 adults in our party. Have already provisionally booked for next year!

Had a great time in St Ives, children loved the beaches especially Porthminster, even the weather didn't spoil the fun.
Took a boat trip from Truro to Falmouth which was a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Did a little tour around but agree with previous visitor, St Ives is by far the best!
House great, everything we needed. Lovely, nice and clean too.

Been very unlucky with the weather! Rained on and off most days! Very handy having car parked outside to load up and take kids out and about! Kids enjoyed the house, plenty of room for them to play (due to rain!) Sheaf of Wheat great pub for food and welcome the kids. Enjoyed 'Country skittles', good food also.
Had great fun beachcombing with the kids even in the drizzle!
Great time, be back next year, hopefully luckier with weather!
July 08
Had a great time. House is great base.
Sheaf of Wheat pub is great bargain for bar meals before 7pm.
St Michaels Mount is good as well as Trebah Gardens.
Paradise Park is a great day out for the kids and only down the road. Look out for money off vouchers in 'The Cornishman' newspaper.

We had great two weeks, visited Tintagel Castle, lots of walking but views a highlight, breathtaking.
Trevarno Gardens also well worth a visit on a good weather day. Plymouth marine centre great for all the family.
Great place to eat 'Badgers Inn' at Lelant and the 'Mex' down the road. Sheaf of Wheat on the door step good value for pub meal.
The cottage is very spacious everything you need, the decking is a real sun trap. Went to Peppers Italian on the last night, fantastic meal but make sure you book.
Thank you.
June 08
We had a fantastic week at St Ives. The house is very cozy and well equipped.
We ate out every evening and the Italian cafe 'Pasta Pizzeria' is worth a try. The Chinese restaurant 'New World' is also very good and for something spicy The 'Mex' is also very good.
We had days out to Newquay, Penzance and Lands End all were really nice places but St Ives is by far the best. We are all hoping to return next year. Many thanks and best wishes.

We had a lovely week staying in St Ives! We have been lucky with the weather :-). The cottage is very spacious for five adults and we love the cozy beds..... I couldn't get my mum out of them! We also liked playing jenga and trivial pursuit. We recommend the ice cream shop on the sea front with yummy flavours like apple pie and baileys!
We went to Paradise park and enjoyed feeding the guinea pigs at 'carrot time' and the parrots at 'parrot time'!
Tried Rajpoot and Sheaf of wheat as recommended by previous guestbook writers. They were both YUMMY!
Don't go to Cheney Mills Farm Park as it doesn't exist.
We went to Mousehole, Cadgwith, Newquay, St Michaels mount, Zennor, Carbis Bay, Coverack, Lizard, Roskillys and still had time for Jeremy Kyle every morning!
All in all we had a thoroughly nice holiday.

"Porthminster beach is delightful, children spent many happy hours building dams around the stream on the beach. Portminster cafe excellent. Ice creams at Kellys 'yummie'. Had a good meal at the Sheaf of Wheat on our last evening. The bed settee is very comfortable and I love your artwork. This is a very cosy home from home and ideal for our large family. Exquisite jewellery in the town centre shops. A glass of wine in the evening sun, we sat on the decking watching the wagtails, completed our day nicely thank you. p.s. we also went to Paradise Park and had a super time."

"Had a lovely time especially on Porthgwidden beach, lovely cheeseburger and chips (if the cheeky seagulls stay away!).
We bought a gorgeous ring in 'Gause Gallery' Fore Street and some made to measure picture frames in 'Mirror Image' Gabriel Street. Roskillys is definitely worth a visit for gorgeous ice cream + home made soup. Paradise Park is excellent for young ones (has a big play barn too). All in all a lovely holiday."

"We all had a lovely time in and out and the house is simply superb. Lovely walks, meals and sightseeing. The Lifeboat is 'base' and the for me the Sloop Inn on occasional cheeky moments! Thanks and best wishes till next time"

"We've just bought our wedding rings at Pebbles jeweller in the town hurrah!"

"Loved staying in this house! Had a terrific time. Lovely breakfast at Cinema café. Food great value at Sheaf of Wheat. Rajpoot Indian good too. Looks like there are a lot of shops under refurbishment can’t wait to see what opens up this year. Nearly forgot, ate at Coast too, ok but a bit slow and quite pricey. Weather was so mild, really enjoyable walking around town. House so much bigger than expected, will bring friends next time. Plenty of room, really nice."

"Super house so well equipped it made it so easy with two little ones, we have already booked to return in September.
Found a super shop called Sugarbean on Fore St, lovely friendly staff selling really different trendy gifts. Rajpoot Indian supplied us with a lovely meal however Hong Kong kitchen is definitely one to be missed. The seafood bar was also wonderful with lovely décor and atmosphere. The yellow canary café on Fore St deserves a mention I had the best hot chocolate of my life there… yummy."

"We had a fantastic time at New Year in St Ives, amazing family atmosphere with everybody in fancy dress, live bands, fireworks, amazing! Weather was surprisingly mild, were able to spend a few hours playing with the children on Porthminster and harbour beaches. Found the house to be surprisingly spacious, close to the town and had everything we needed.
We can't wait to come back in the summer! "
